Dr. Shahid Mukhtar
One of the most well known neurologists in Lahore, he is serving as Associate Professor of Neurology at Lahore General Hospital. He is a graduate of King Edward Medical College and did residency in general medicine & neurology at Mayo Hospital Lahore. He did FCPS in neurology and moved to Lahore General Hospital, and has been working there since. He has great interest in neurology and is involved in many research projects. He has been published locally as well as internationally in renowned publications, and has special interest in movement disorders, headache, epilepsy and stroke. He is actively involved in teaching both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
When to See a Neurophysician?
- Headache especially when it is severe and long-standing. Also when there is family history of migraine.
- Weakness/loss of function of any arm and/or leg. Difficulty talking, difficulty swallowing, difficulty walking, difficulty with balance (stroke).
- Seizures, loss of consciousness, jerking of body, periods of absences or unresponsiveness, falls (epilepsy).
- Sudden loss of vision from one or both eyes (optic neuritis)
- Paralysis of one side of face ( Bell’s palsy/stroke)
- Shaking of hands, legs, head, chin or voice. (Tremors).
